Having a Pergola on your patio can be the perfect adornment for those who want to add some extra space to their garden. The amazing thing is that they non only provide protection against sun but they also offer style and comfort. Many people have started to use their patios in the warmer weather and so, the pergola patios became their summer oasis.
Did you also know that pergolas were initially used as walk ways?
If you intend to buy a pergola you should initially think about it's placement in your garden, and also how you will install it. Of course, you should also think of the material that matches best with the mood of the area where you will place it.
So, why build a pergola? The absence of walls and a roof allow a pergola to define any outdoor space without actually constraining it.
It's a unique architectural marriage that places you both inside and outside at the same time, and it's just the thing to bring your backyard landscaping to life.
Pergolas used to be common features of Italian Renaissance gardens, often serving as walkways or grape arbors. Essentially, the same design can be used to define a passageway or frame a focal point in your yard even today.
Add a climbing plant such as ivy, wisteria or, yes, even grapevines, and your pergola will provide some color and shade as well.

"We recently used Gareth and his team to sort out our garden, we bought a old house which we renovated but left the garden till the house was sorted! The garden was in a bit of a state, overgrown, drystone walls that needed rebuilding, old garden structures that needed removing, and areas of garden full of rubbish and overgrown that needed regenerating and turfing. We had no idea where to start? Gareth was extremely helpful in suggesting ways to really improve the garden as well as sort it out, once we had agreed a plan Gareth's team arrived. His team were extremely courteous and very hard working, they went about the task quickly and always left everyday having checked with us that everything was OK. Gareth regularly attended to monitor progress and ensure that we were happy with progress, we made a few changes to the design plan as we progressed which were for the better, again Gareth and his team took all this in their stride.
The end result of all this is a garden that we are now proud of, it appears structured, a lot larger with new areas of lawn, new borders, a veg plot, rebuilt drystone walls, new fencing and gates. Gareth and his team have done us proud, we are really pleased with the work they have done for us and would definitely recommend them"
