Having a Pergola on your patio can be the perfect adornment for those who want to add some extra space to their garden. The amazing thing is that they non only provide protection against sun but they also offer style and comfort. Many people have started to use their patios in the warmer weather and so, the pergola patios became their summer oasis.
Did you also know that pergolas were initially used as walk ways?
If you intend to buy a pergola you should initially think about it's placement in your garden, and also how you will install it. Of course, you should also think of the material that matches best with the mood of the area where you will place it.
So, why build a pergola? The absence of walls and a roof allow a pergola to define any outdoor space without actually constraining it.
It's a unique architectural marriage that places you both inside and outside at the same time, and it's just the thing to bring your backyard landscaping to life.
Pergolas used to be common features of Italian Renaissance gardens, often serving as walkways or grape arbors. Essentially, the same design can be used to define a passageway or frame a focal point in your yard even today.
Add a climbing plant such as ivy, wisteria or, yes, even grapevines, and your pergola will provide some color and shade as well.

I had the pleasure of placing a contract with GK Wilson Landscaping to carry out a full rear garden and drive way make over.
A brief summary would be as follows - removing and levelling a 3.5 x 3.5 meter area that was an eyesore to say the least & replacing it with top decking, removing our old & worn out patio/garden/wall & path area and transforming it with new Indian Stone/fencing & chippings, wow what a difference. All the fencing & gates that was standing up only by good luck were removed & new high grade fencing & gates installed with concrete posts & toe boards. The stone shed roof that was being held up only by internal shelving was removed & replaced this included roof beams & the floor was re-laid with concrete to form a firm standing base for new shelving. The drive way that was a mix of old chippings & dirt was excavated and a new sub-base laid with new chippings on top, again wow what a difference
Myself & my partner can't thank Gareth & his team enough for what they have been able to do with our eyesore, they worked none stop in atrocious conditions to deliver the project on time. Gareth kept us fully informed of progress, any issues that came up were communicated & dealt with in a professional manor.
Myself & my partner would have no hesitation in recommending GK Wilson Landscaping for you garden projects that you may be planing now or in the future.
